Salt
The salt, from simple flavour or preservative, has been living living a real rebirth in the last few years.
Technical information about sodium ( reported as they are given from the specifications of Cervia salt marsh):
Sodium plays an important role in some vital function of the human body:
- it maintains osmotic pressure;
- it protects the body from excessive dehydration;
- it regulates muscular excitability;
- it regulates membrane permeability;
- it is the antagonist of potassium.
A lack in sodium limits the regular course of the functions mentioned above, while an excessive use can be noxious to people suffering from high blood pressure and can cause water retention too.
Salt is necessary for the human body, but it must be used sparingly. Therefore, it is wise to follow the advice: a little bit, but good.
